Outpost Gallifrey http://www.gallifreyone.com reported late last
week that the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC)
http://www.cbc.ca is the first overseas broadcaster to buy rights to
the new Doctor Who episodes, ordering them sight unseen. Doctor Who
is expected to be among the shows ptiched to broadcasters at the
Mipcom convention in France in October. The sales information
(including many spoilers) is on the new series news page on Outpost
Gallifrey.
KUED Salt Lake City http://www.kued.org has confirmed that they are leaving the 5th Doctor era of stories early and jumping to mid-4th Doctor, starting with The Invisible Enemy on September 18. The Tom Baker stories will air in production order, not broadcast order. Maryland Public TV http://www.mpt.org is also jumping to an earlier point in the Doctor Who story rotation on the 18th, going to Patrick Troughton's stories with The Tomb of the Cybermen.
The American Who online radio show http://www.americanwho.net
reports record downloads of its most recent episode. 702 as of 6AM
EDT Wednesday September 15. The episode, dubbed "The Great Dalek
Debate!" until it went online on September 11, features an extended
interview with Rob Shearman, a writer on the new series. Daleks and
other topics are discussed.
ABC Australia http://www.abc.net.au/tv changed the start time of several Doctor Who episodes to 6PM at short notice due to coverage of Federal Election 2004. It looks like Doctor Who will begin earlier on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until the election on 9 October.
